Located on the banks of the majestic Santa Cruz River, this town is internationally recognized for offering a unique experience for sport fishing enthusiasts. In spring, its main star is the king salmon or chinook, a powerful fish that offers one of the most exciting battles you can imagine.
The ideal season for king salmon in this area runs from September to November, and some specimens easily exceed 15 kg. Then, from mid-February to the end of April, the river welcomes the steelhead trout or “cabeza de acero,” a rare and prized species that ascends from the sea to spawn, with specimens that can weigh over 9 kg.
In both seasons, it is also possible to find other species such as rainbow trout and perch, always practicing responsible fishing and respecting conservation regulations.
